About XLSX Format
XLSX is the default file format for Microsoft Excel since Office 2007. Based on the Office Open XML (OOXML) standard (ISO/IEC 29500), it stores spreadsheet data in a ZIP-compressed XML package. XLSX supports multiple worksheets, formulas, charts, pivot tables, conditional formatting, data validation, and rich cell formatting including fonts, colors, and borders.
The format is widely supported across spreadsheet applications including Google Sheets, LibreOffice Calc, Apple Numbers, and many data analysis tools. XLSX files can contain up to 1,048,576 rows and 16,384 columns per worksheet, making them suitable for large datasets used in business reporting, financial analysis, and data management.
